A few weeks ago I did a post about growing your email list and I also spoke about the software that I use and that’s called MAILERLITE.

I thought Id show you a quick video about Mailerlite, although they do have a new look, but this is just an introduction to how it all works.

Here’s a few reasons why you should use an email software:

  You can schedule emails in advance

  You can send one off emails to LOTS of people at once

  You can create an automated series of emails that can get sent at certain periods after each other

  You can monitor how many people are being active with your content

  You can send regular newsletters / videos etc

You might be thinking “well I can do that with gmail”.

Well actually you can’t …..

You can’t track open rates in gmail 

Many of your emails won’t get through the spam filters if you use a gmail/hotmail/yahoo type email address

They don’t like it if you use their systems for bulk emails

You can’t create beautiful designs etc

So there really is no reason why you shouldn’t get started on an email software program.

As I say I use Mailerlite because it’s easy and it’s free and does all the things I want it to, however there are plenty out there such as Mailchimp, Aweber, Kajabi and lots more.

Do your research and choose one that suits you

When I teach my private mentoring clients about the “ideal client” it’s a new concept to them. Basically, an “ideal client” is the person they love to work with the most….

But There’s also the reason WHY people will love to come to you!

People will come to your classes because they are looking for pilates or yoga….

BUT …

And here’s the truth bomb … 

They will STAY WITH YOU, because of YOU!

Therefore it’s just as important to know what your secret sauce is as it is to know who your ideal client is!

One of the most important things about becoming a successful teacher is YOU and what people love about YOU!

Some of you might have heard the term “UNIQUE SELLING POINT” and it’s basically the same thing.

So my clients love that I’m normal, they lve that I laugh at my own jokes and I mess up in class sometimes! They lve that I know their physical limitations and I honour that in a class and make sure that they each have the right exercise for them. They lve that I like to laugh in my classes……

THAT’S WHY I’VE HAD CLIENTS FOR NEARLY 10 YEARS NOW!

I know that I am not everyone’s cup of tea, but there are hundreds of people that will love what I have to offer and those are the people I market to!

So, when you are ready to start your business or perhaps you’ve been teaching for a while already….

WHAT KEEPS YOUR CLIENTS COMING BACK FOR MORE?

If you don’t know ASK them!

Your secret sauce is something you want to actively share with other people to attract the same like-minded people into your classes and it’ll make teaching a million times more enjoyable and fun when you’re with people who “get you”!!

You either have it or you don’t! But it doesn’t mean you can’t learn about it!

Working on computers seems to fill some people with absolute dread. . I know because Paul is one of them and can often be the cause of some heated conversation.

I often say to him that he has already told himself before he has sat down on the computer that he can’t do it! And I do truly believe that!

Why do I know that? Paul also does all our YouTube stuff, google SEO, and lots of other things which I don’t know how to do – but because he has been interested in it – he has taken the time to learn it!

I know for some people things come a bit harder – but if you want to grow your business and make a fabulous profit – then learning the tech is something you are just going to have to do – with a positive mindset.

OR PAY SOMEONE ELSE to do it!

People always say “easy for you” and I half agree. I do have a knack for computers, but not because I have the skill or the brains – I just look at all the buttons on the screen and play with it. I’m not scared I’m going to break something.

When I first started, I made my own website – and that took me hours, sometimes I’d be up until 2 or 3am trying to figure out HTML coding and back then websites weren’t as simple as they are now! Does that sound like “easy for you”?

No, it’s not. And trust me I have clicked on buttons and lost all my work too!

It happens, but still doesn’t mean you have to be scared of it!

For many people that I have coached before and some that I assist under other coaches, the one thing that crops up is all the tech stuff.

I have said this before to teachers and coaching clients – THE WHOLE WORLD IS ONLINE and if you want to grow your business (whether that’s face-to-face classes or online) YOUR BUSINESS HAS TO BE ONLINE.

It’s taken me HOURS, ENERGY, and LOTS OF MONEY to learn the skills that I have, as I’ve always invested in courses or mentors to help me.

BUT what I do want to do is make your life easier! The quicker you can grasp the tech stuff, the quicker it’s going to become second nature and easier for you and then you can focus on doing all the stuff you LOVE.

Once you start earning enough, then you can start paying someone else to do it – as I have!

Rewind 6 years ago – I ONLY WISH I HAD THESE HANDED TO ME IN A PACAKGE. I’ve spent hours on youtube and google trying to figure it all and nearly stabbing a pen through my computer screen! LOL yes told you… I’ve been there too!

We are so lucky to be in a world where we have everything at our fingertips.

One of the biggest mistakes I USED to make was try and sell everything and anything to whoever would buy it and funny enough – very few people actually purchased anything.

  If you’ve been in my world for a while now I am sure you would have heard me talk about “your ideal client”.

It’s that person who you love to work with the most and who has the problems that you’re super awesome at solving!

REWIND back 10 years ago …..

My Facebook post would look something like this:

Pilates in the village hall at 5pm – only £5

All abilities and ages welcome.

Now how do you think that post stood out on Facebook? 

  Truthly, IT DID NOT!   No one is going to relate to that and people will just not see it.

  (BORING BY THE WAY!!!) 

I didn’t know anything about an ideal client and I didn’t know anything about their problems so there was absolutely no way I was going to attract them into my classes.

In order to create a service or product people are cueing up for you first need to know who is your target audience (ideal client) and what’s their problem and then your product or service HAS TO BE SOLVING THEIR PROBLEM =  A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!

Let’s look at an example:

If I were trying to sell HIT classes to my clients like the ones I have now – THEY WOULD NOT SELL.

WHY?

Because my clients are mostly in their 60’s & 70’s and they have all those conditions that people get when they start to age and the last thing any of them are interested in is jumping around like maniacs.

I am trying to sell my HIT classes to the WRONG AUDIENCE.  

So either I need to find the right audience to sell my HIT classes to OR I need to come up with a service that will help my current clients – so perhaps I could create a 6 weeks “Feel Young Again” course – or something like that,

So in short

  FIND YOUR TARGET MARKET

  WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM

  CREATE A SERVICE / PACKAGE THAT SOLVES THEIR PROBLEM

  SELL TO THE RIGHT AUDIENCE

And that is a recipe for SUCCESS!

You see – once you know how all these things start to make a lot more sense!

DON’T BE THAT PERSON….

. Getting into a price war is a huge mistake and there are no winners ….

. It undermines your education, your training, and the value you provide.

. It undermines the whole industry and every teacher out there.

Charge what YOU feel is right for your services, without comparing yourself to someone down the road ….

They have their own money stories, their own beliefs, and their own agenda…..

Believe in yourself and price yourself accordingly.

. Do what feels right for you and how you want your plans to look

One of the things I teach my 1-2-1 mentoring clients is HOW to price up your services, get paid EVERY MONTH, CONSISTENTLY, and without nagging people!

Say goodbye to those beliefs that teachers can’t earn a regular income from teaching or earn a GREAT income from teaching.

PRICING + PACKAGES + GREAT SERVICE = PREDICTABLE GROWING MONTHLY INCOME

The system is easy, but it does need to be implemented and you do need to take action, but the rewards are very sweet!

I think as humans we think that there’s something wrong with us when we’re faced with a challenge or we fall into victim mode aka “Why me?”……

It’s quite normal to get all flustered and break out into sweaty armpits when we’re faced with a problem.

In business, this can range from cashflow to staff issues, to customer service, to shitty customers, and everything else….

AND you know what – THAT IS LIFE.

Problems will never go away.

It doesn’t’ matter how successful you become THERE ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE PROBLEMS.

However, as you grow and you can afford to take on a manager – your manager will take some of those responsibilities off your shoulders.

I’ve got staff that deals with customers for two reasons. One because I don’t want to be dealing with emails all day and having someone else deal with it keeps the negativity away from me BUT also – it stops me having to have any confrontation with a client so that our relationship is preserved, which is really important since I am the face of my business.

The good thing is ……

As your business grows – your problems will change!

So when you start to notice different challenges arising guess what?

It’s time to celebrate!

Your business is moving to the next level!

And I will be honest the more successful you become the easier the problems are to deal with – in my opinion.

Or maybe it’s not that they are easier it’s that I have learned how to deal with the challenges better and to be more responsive rather than reactive!

I’ve also learned to delegate more to my team so that I don’t have to carry everything on my shoulders…..

Being a business owner is not easy.

You will cry.

You will want to throw in the towel.

You will want to punch a hole in your computer screen.

You will argue with your spouse.

BUT……

When you start seeing the fruits of your labour and you see that amazing life that you are creating for you and your family AND how your business is helping other people to have a better life …..

THEN all that other stuff just disappears.

You forget all about it.

Sometimes I sit back and reflect on my journey (which is very important to do by the way)…..

And I’m amazed at how I got here.

I’m amazed and how I got through all the challenges we’ve faced.

And I look at our beautiful studio that has had our blood, sweat and tears poured into it and it’s all been absolutely worth it and I love what we have.

Start to think of problems as challenges and lessons from the Universe.

Maybe you’ve had clients asking for refunds because your Terms and Conditions need to be made clearer or your instructors are trying to steal your clients because you haven’t got a contract in place…. (and they will still try! – that’s for another post!)….

When you start to look at it from a place of “What is the lesson here”, you’ll be able to deal with the challenges from a different state of mind and made better decisions.
